EYELID REJUVENATION

When we speak to each other, we focus on the eyes. Having the appearances of the eyes at their best is the best way to enhance our looks. Bright, open eyes project an image of alertness and youth.

Upper and lower Blepharoplasty (eyelids)

Excess eyelid tissue and puffiness can be reduced by eyelid surgery. Over time everyone's eyelids develop new skin and loose muscles which fall in folds and fat which pushes out the skin. This operation, because of the concealed scars, is suitable for both men and women.

Lower eyelid fullness or 'bags' can be reduced through an incision inside the lid, which leaves no visible scar (transconjunctival), or under the lashes (which allows tightening of the skin as well).

Extra upper eyelid skin and fullness can be reduced with direct excision. Sometimes a 'fallen' eyebrow will contribute to excess upper eyelid skin and needs elevation through a Brow or Forehead lift to enhance the upper eyelid appearance (coronal, endoscopic, or temple).

Extra fat under the upper lid or brow, which causes puffiness, can be removed as well. And the muscle wrinkling of the skin between the eyebrows can be reduced by direct excision of the corrugator muscles or by Botox injection. Dr. Gallico has established the anatomic descriptions, which allow precise muscle reduction. Hollow areas over the cheeks may be filled by fat flaps from the lower lids, by cheek implants and by a mid-facelift.

Dr. Gallico has presented his techniques for mid-facelift and cheek implants at national and international conferences. When you discuss eyelid surgery with your plastic surgeon, be sure he/she understands the surgical procedures mentioned above and is prepared to offer you the individual surgical needs you require. Dr. Gallico performs the surgery through both internal (transconjunctival) and external approaches.
